What sort of feed should I use?

During the first forty-eight hours after hatching, do not feed your chicks anything. After that, chicks can be fed on Teurlings complete breeding flour for the first 8 weeks. During their first few weeks of life they are not yet able to digest pellet feed. After 8 weeks, gradually switch over to the complete breeding pellets, which are finer in diameter than poultry pellets and formulated to meet the nutritional needs during this phase of life.

Teurlings recommends a smooth changeover where the percentage of pellets compared to the percentage of flour is increased daily. Supply Teurlings complete breeding pellets until the animals start laying eggs, then switch over to complete breeding flour or complete poultry pellets.

How much feed should I give?

The feed intake depends greatly on the breed, age, season and laying percentage. Teurlings applies the following guideline.
